Kevin Hourigan was born and raised in the woods of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. He is a director and actor.
Hourigan’s directing credits include Cenerentola at Curtis Opera Theater; Talk to me about Shame in the New York International Fringe Festival (Fringe Award) and at the Syrena Theatre in Warsaw, Poland; Sweeney Todd at the Performing Arts Institute; Invisible Plains, a staging of new musical compositions at Boston University and the Greene Gallery in New Haven; Gentlemen of Kentucky by Thomas Daniel Valls at Dixon Place; and Magellanica by A. J. Ditty at the Access Theater. Additionally, he has directed workshops of Death of the Republic by Craig Lucas, Heart of Duckness by A. J. Ditty with Pipeline Theater Company, and The Book of Esau by Keelay Gipson at New Dramatists. As an assistant/associate director, Kevin has worked with directors Rachel Chavkin, Nicky Silver, Jackson Gay, John Jesurun, Laura Savia, and Mike Donahue. Kevin also served as the assistant director and as a collaborating writer for Queen of the Night, created by Randy Weiner and directed by Christine Jones.
Hourigan is currently the inaugural Directing Fellow at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and served as Artistic Director of the Yale Cabaret 2016-2017 Season.
Hourigan is a recent graduate of the Yale School of Drama, where he directed Blood Wedding, The Merchant of Venice, The Hour of Great Mercy by Miranda Rose Hall, and Tiny by Sarah B. Mantell. At Yale Cabaret, he has directed Lake Kelsey by Dylan Frederick, I’m with you in Rockland, a devised work based on Howl by Allen Ginsberg, and music-performance mashup Collisions by Fred Kennedy.
As an actor, Kevin originated the role of Andrey in Dmitry Krymov’s world premiere production of The Square Root of Three Sisters at the 2016 International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven. In New York, Hourigan appeared in Jenny Koons’s Odyssey Project, Jean Claude van Itallie's Confessions and Conversations, and Chris Tyler's Toxic If Swallowed. Hourigan also appeared in the supporting cast of Sleep No More. His credits also include Adam Geist and Phaedra’s Love at Yale Summer Cabaret, and In the Red and Brown Water, Xander Xyst, Dragon: 1 by Jeremy O. Harris, American Gothic, and I’m with you in Rockland at Yale Cabaret.
Hourigan has an MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama and a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
Hourigan is a member of Actor's Equity.
